Azerbaijani businessmen invited to Yiwu Int’l Commodities Fair

The 23rd China Yiwu International Commodities Fair will be held in Yiwu, China on October 21.

Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) reported that entrepreneurs working in Azerbaijan are invited to participate in the Fair that will last until October 25.

China Yiwu International Commodities Fair, Yiwu Fair is the leading exhibition-fair of export goods in China, which has been held since 1995.

The event is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province and other relevant authorities. The Yiwu Fair is one of the largest, most influential and most productive commodities fair in China. It has honored as “Best Management Fairs in China”, “Best Outcome Exhibition”, “Top Ten Exhibitions in China”, “Best Fair sponsored by the Government” and “Most Influential Brand Fairs”.

The 23rd China Yiwu International Commodities Fair will set up 4,500 international standard booths, including hardware, electromechanical facilities, electronic and electrical appliance, daily necessities, crafts, cultural and official goods, sport and outdoor products, clothing, shoes and hats, knitwear, jewelry and accessories, toys, pet and aquarium supplies and auto accessory.

More than 200,000 buyers from 200 countries and regions will be present in China Yiwu International Commodities Fair.

China is a huge opportunity and a priority market for Azerbaijan. More than 50 agreements were signed between the two countries so far.

Trade and economic contacts occupy a significant place in bilateral relations between China and Azerbaijan. The process of interaction between the two countries was marked by constant tendencies of expansion and strengthening of cooperation.

In early August, AZPROMO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

The document provides for the development of trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries, as well as promotion of export and exchange of experience.

Moreover, the active cooperation between China and Azerbaijan strongly contributes to the realization of the Great Silk road program.

The Great Silk Road is a general name of a caravan road, which has been the main two-way trading bridge of East and West since III century BC up to now. The Great Silk Road starts in Japan and China stretches up to Europe cutting through India, Afghanistan, Iran, Central Asia, Caucasus, Asia Minor, Northern Africa including/connecting Indian Ocean, Chinese sea, Japanese sea, Red sea, Caspian sea, Black sea, Azov sea and Mediterranean sea.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China amounted to $395.6 million in January-April 2017.
