Azerbaijan looks for agriculture, tourism investments in Iran

During his visit to Iran's Khudafarin plants, Azerbaijan’s
Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev said that the main agenda of his
trip to Iran is to evaluate the investment opportunities in
agriculture and tourism sector, Mehr news agency reported Feb.

Last December Iran’s parliament has ratified the agreement signed
with Azerbaijan for cooperation in construction and operation of
the Khudafarin and Giz Galasi hydro power plants on the Araz River
and in using energy and water resources.
The agreement was signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to
Tehran on Feb. 23. The Parliament of Azerbaijan ratified the
agreement in June.
The agreement proclaims the principles of respect for sovereignty
and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Iran, and equal rights
for use of water and energy resources of Khudaferin and Giz Galasi
hydro systems.
Meanwhile, Iranian ICT Minister Mahmoud Vaezi had said that the
statistics indicate 70 percent growth in Iran-Azerbaijan trade
turnover.
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Iran amounted to $15.77
million in January 2017, as compared to $9.56 million a year
before, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
