Azercell reveals volume of investments

Azercell, one of the leading mobile operators of Azerbaijan, announced the volume of investments the company made in the country.

Azercell President Vahid Mursaliyev said that the volume of investments amounted to some $1.443 billion in 20 years, with over $31 million being invested in 2016.

Mursaliyev noted that some $659,400 was allocated for training of staff, while over $255,600 was spent for the implementation of social projects.

As for allocations to the state budget, Mursaliyev said that the company transferred some 171.5 million manats ($ 98.83 million) in 2016, while the volume of allocations exceeded some 1.458 billion manats ($ 840,250) within last 20 years.

The company controls some 48 percent of the mobile market, while the number of its subscribers is over 4.5 million.

Last year, the network of the 4G operator was strengthened by 84 percent, while tariffs for mobile internet were reduced by 27 percent.

Azercell Telecom LLC was founded in 1996 and since the first years sustains a leading position in the market. Azercell introduced number of technological innovations in Azerbaijan: GSM technology, advance payment mobile services, M2M,MobilBank, GPRS/EDGE (mobile internet), 24/7 Customer Care, full-time operating Azercell Express offices, mobile e-service "ASAN imza" (ASAN signature) and others.
