Some 27 billion manats will be required for Azerbaijan to implement the strategic goals outlined in "Strategic road maps for the national economy and main economic sectors."

The recent presidential decree endorsing “Strategic road maps for the national economy and main economic sectors” is aimed at define the development goals and priorities and ensure their proper and timely implementation.

The strategic road maps cover almost all sectors of the economy, including, development of the oil and gas industry, the manufacture and processing of agricultural products, the manufacture of small and medium entrepreneurship-level consumer goods, development of heavy industry and machinery, tourism, logistics and trade, vocational education and training, financial services, communication and information technologies and utilities.

“Most of the necessary funds will be provided through restructuring the existing budgets, as well as the joint efforts of the private sector and various investors,” says the Strategic Road Maps for the National Economy and Main Economic Sectors.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree endorsing “Strategic Road Maps for the National Economy and Main Economic Sectors” on Dec. 6.

The decree aims to define the country’s development goals and priorities and ensure their implementation.

The following strategic road maps were approved by the presidential decree:

• Strategic Road Map for the prospects of the national economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of the oil and gas industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the manufacture and processing of agricultural products in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the manufacture of small and medium entrepreneurship-level consumer goods in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of heavy industry and machinery in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of specialized tourism industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of logistics and trade in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of housing provision at a reasonable price in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of vocational education and training in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of financial services in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of communication and information technologies in the Republic of Azerbaijan;

• Strategic Road Map for the development of utilities (electricity and thermal energy, water and gas supply) in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
