Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Property Issues has named some of state facilities, which will be offered for privatization at the next auction.

The next investment auction, which is scheduled for December 20, will put up for sale some 84 enterprises and properties, including 23 joint stock companies, 26 small enterprises and properties, 32 of unused non-residential areas and 3 vehicles.

These are companies on the balance of state agencies and organizations including recreation areas, hospitals, dispensaries, and plants.

Baku Railway Hospital, Central Seamen's Hospital, Nabran Recreational Center in Khachmaz, Shahdag resorts in Gusar, Sumgayit Industrial Complex and others will be offered to investors.

Large underground parkings in Baku, including those in Nizami and Sabail districts, will also be put up for privatization.

The economy of Azerbaijan has so far managed to attract nearly $1.1 billion by means of investment tenders.

The committee reported that overall 352 state enterprises and facilities have been offered for privatization.

The third stage of privatization started in the framework of the presidential decree dated May 19, 2016 on additional measures to improve the process of state property privatization, as well as the presidential decree from July 19, 2016, on some measures to improve the management efficiency and accelerate privatization of state property.

Under the decree, the acceleration of the state property privatization process has been defined as an important direction of the economic policy.

The privatization process is designed to attract both foreign and local investors, as well as improve the business environment of Azerbaijan.

The portal for privatization – privatization.az, launched in July 2016, reflects all necessary information about the facilities, their addresses, location, and even initial cost and aims at facilitation of the process. The website is available in two languages - Azerbaijani and English. “Why Azerbaijan is special” section available on the website explains the reasons and advantages of investing in the country.
