Baku, Islamabad pledge to upgrade economic cooperation

Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the two strategic partners, intend to strengthen the bilateral relations in various fields and achieve strong economic partnership.

The opportunities for expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic relations between the two countries were at core of discussions during the meeting between Pakistan's Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Alizade.

The minister is expected to pay a visit to Azerbaijan in the near future and discuss further with te country’s authorities strengthening of ties between the countries.

Dastgir Khan hailed the existing great potential for development of economic cooperation saying that the social-economic development of Azerbaijan, favorable business sphere created for foreign investors in the country, transportation corridors, production enterprises and other economic and trade opportunities, make the country attractive to investors.

Moreover the sides discussed the possibilities of expanding the legal framework of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan cooperation.

The Baku-Islamabad cooperation extends to every sphere ranging from political, economic, technological, security to cultural arenas. The two countries do share common values in terms of culture and religion.

A unique attribute of Azerbaijan-Pakistan bilateral relations is strong support that both countries extend to each other on issues of mutual interest and international arena.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Pakistan amounted to $1.8 million in the first quarter of 2016.
