Russia’s Tyumen region has offered Azerbaijan to implement a number of projects in the field of chemical industry, tourism and agriculture.

Governor of Tyumen Region Vladimir Yakushev announced about this at the opening of the 7th Azerbaijani-Russian Interregional Forum, which is being held in Baku on November 1.

"Tyumen region is ready to discuss the implementation of the project for the production of polyester anhydride, which is used in the production of cars, pipelines, boats, etc., with Azerbaijan," he said.

He added that Tyumen region is also ready to discuss construction of potato and grain processing plants with Azerbaijani businessmen.

"We are also interested in establishing a retail and wholesale logistics complex on the territory of the industrial park,” he added. “Thus, it will be possible to supply products to other regions of Russia."

Yakushev added that Tyumen region and Azerbaijan could also consider the possibility of establishing joint ventures in oil and gas engineering, the construction of the greenhouse complex, SPA-hotels and others.

Azerbaijan intends to strengthen business cooperation with Russian regions, by means of increasing the number of mutual agreements and business entities. Bilateral agreements on trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation were signed with a number of Russian regions at the intergovernmental level till now.

Azerbaijan ranks fifth in Russia's foreign trade with the CIS countries (following Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan). At the same time, Russia is also considered to be a leading importer of Azerbaijani goods. Some 600 Russian companies are operating in Azerbaijan.
