Huge agricultural producer commissioned in Nakhchivan

Food security, one of the most important issues for every country remains a priority for Azerbaijan, as it allows to provide population with local and quality products, and to reduce dependence on imports.
Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, which enjoys favorable business environment commissioned production areas and warehouses of Nakhchivan Products Ltd.
Head of the Supreme Assembly Vasif Talibov, who attended the event, said that the company is aimed to ensure the turnover of the products manufactured in the Autonomous Republic in the domestic market.
The company will also be engaged in supply of food products to state-financed enterprises, institutions and organizations. Minister of Economy of the Autonomous Republic Famil Seyidov, in turn said that the development of entrepreneurship is in the focus of attention in Nakhchivan.
The production of agricultural products is growing every year in the Autonomous Republic. Subsidies allocated by the government for the agrarian sector stimulated development of agriculture significantly. The majority of the population of the Nakhchivan (about 70 percent) is rural people engaged in agriculture.
Gardening is one of the traditional fields in the Autonomous Republic. The region is famous for its high-quality and ecologically pure fruits. Some 36,196 tons of different types of fruits and 14,395 tons of grapes were produced in Nakhchivan in 2015. As many as 61,414 hectares of land was cultivated in the region in the reported period.
