Two female cyclists to represent Azerbaijan at Baku 2015

Two female cyclists along other athletes will represent Azerbaijan in road cycling at the first Baku 2015 European Games, Azerbaijan Cycling Federation reported on May 27.

Ulfet Nazarli and Elena Pavlyuhina will represent the country at inaugural Games scheduled for this June.

Azerbaijan’s representatives stressed that the participation in the European Games is the most important competition of their career, underlining that a large number of strong cyclists will arrive in Baku.

"The participation in the first Baku 2015 European Games is a great honor for me,” Nazarli said. “I will do everything to succeed."

Meanwhile, Pavlyuhina won the championship of Azerbaijan held in Khizi several days ago.

“The Olympic champions and world champions will be among my competitors,” Pavlyuhina said commenting on the upcoming Games.

The cycling competition at the first European Games will be held on June 18-21.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
