Training Centre for civil servants to appear in Azerbaijan

A signing ceremony of the joint project on “Support to the Civil Service Training in the Republic of Azerbaijan" was held at the Academy of Public Administration under the Azerbaijani President on July 1, the UNDP Baku office reported.

The project document is signed by the United Nations Development Programme’s Resident Representative, Ghulam M. Isaczai and the Rector of the Academy of Public Administration, Urkhan Alakbarov.

The project will be implemented by the UNDP in cooperation with the Academy, and is jointly funded by UNDP and the European Union with a total budget of 1.25 million euros. Overall more than 500 people will benefit from the project.

Isaczai, addressing the event, emphasized the necessity of effectiveness and efficiency of civil service, particularly in the developing societies to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Agenda.

“It is very important to establish a Training center to lead and coordinate professional development of civil servants. The establishment of the Training Centre for civil servants in Azerbaijan can also benefit other countries of the region that are keen to improve their civil service system.” he said.

The project emphasizes the support to the Academy on strengthening civil service training in the country in line with European standards. T

he project will support the Academy in establishment of Trainings Centre and capacity building of its staff. The project will also strengthen the institutional capacities of the Academy to lead and coordinate the civil servants trainings and to provide the methodological assistance to state bodies and other training centres.
