European Grand Prix: Eddie Jordan backs in-form Lewis Hamilton

Eddie Jordan believes world champion Lewis Hamilton is the man in-form following back-to-back victories ahead of this weekend’s inaugural European Grand Prix, according to express.

The multi-million pound Formula One circus rolls into the thriving city of Baku with the championship race back on after Hamilton's wins in Monaco and Canada.

The Mercedes driver is just nine points behind team-mate Nico Rosberg and Channel 4's F1 presenter Jordan feels the new venue will be a 'fabulous experience' for fans and racers with the Brit now in the groove.

"I think it is going to be a fabulous experience," Jordan told Express Sport.

"I’m told the streets and the city are exciting. It is an afternoon/evening race so lets see what happens. Hamilton’s win means he can now sees that the gap has shortened and gives him something to fight for.”

Jordan is also experiencing new ground after joining Channel 4 following the BBC's decision to relinquish the free-to-air TV rights and becoming a joint host of the revamped Top Gear with Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc.

But the effervescent Irishman is delighted with how the channel has adapted to their new surroundings and was full of praise for fellow presenter and former McLaren and Red Bull driver David Coulthard.

He said: "It is new territory for Channel Four but I think they have done a super job. They have got a great line-up of people.

"I’m a big fan of the crew, having worked together in the past with the BBC. I know Lee McKenzie she was with me before. Obviously DC (Coulthard) has been with me for the last seven years. It’s no surprise he won the presenter of the year award last year, you don’t get that unless you’re really good."
