Azerbaijan, Turkey successfully cooperate in all areas, President Aliyev says

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has named Turkey’s inviting Azerbaijan to G20 Antalya Summit as an example of high-level relations.

President Aliyev made the remark in a meeting with a delegation led by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on November 27.

President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Cavusoglu on the occasion of his appointment as foreign minister, and wished success in his activities.

Noting that the Turkish minister made his first visit to Azerbaijan after appointment, President Aliyev said this tradition has already existed for several years.

He also congratulated Turkey on the successful organization of G20 Antalya Summit on November 15-16, calling it as a big success of Turkey.

“Turkey once again demonstrated that it is a great country, a country with big power. I am happy that the brotherly country invited Azerbaijan to the Summit. This is indicative of the high level of Turkish-Azerbaijani relations, and shows both our nations and the world that Turkey and Azerbaijan have the closest relations on the global scale,” the president said.

He also noted that G20 Antalya Summit demonstrated that Turkey’s position has a significant role to play in many issues.

Stressing that Azerbaijani-Turkish relations are at the highest level, President Aliyev said the two countries are successfully cooperating in all areas.

Cavusoglu, for his part, congratulated President Aliyev on the parliamentary elections held on November 1, noting that both Turkey and brotherly Azerbaijan held elections on the same day. “You had very successful elections. I read the reports of international organizations. Yesterday I reviewed approval reports of the Council of Europe,” he said.

He also thanked President Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s participation in G20 Antalya Summit, noting that Azerbaijan`s participation in the Summit made Turkey’s position even stronger.

Cavusoglu expressed his confidence that Turkish-Azerbaijani relations will continue developing in all areas and reach a higher level under the leadership of the two brotherly countries’ presidents.

Touching upon ongoing tension between Turkey and Russia, President Aliyev said historically, Azerbaijan has had close ties with both Turkey and Russia, and that it regrets and is concerned about tension between the two countries.

He said Azerbaijan is ready to make efforts to reduce and eliminate tension in Turkish-Russian relations.

The sides also discussed a variety of issues, including settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh, and the projects jointly implemented by Azerbaijan and Turkey such as TANAP, TAP, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and others.

Prime Minister Artur Rasizade also met Chavusoglu, during the latter’s Baku visit.

Stressing the importance of sincere relationship between the heads of states of both countries in strengthening the ties, he said bilateral cooperation would continue in overall fields, in particular economic, cultural, tourism, trade areas.

Chavushoglu, in turn, applauded bilateral Turkish-Azerbaijani ties, recalling firmness of friendly and fraternal bonds of both countries.

They stressed the importance of solving the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the norms of international law, principles of borders` inviolability and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The sides exchanged views on maintaining the stability in the region, as well as further cementing international ties.
