Baku hosts 13th Congress of NAYORA

The 13th Congress of National Assembly of Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan marking the 20th anniversary of the Organization has kicked off in Baku.

The event brought together State and Governmental officials, Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov, Head of Youth Sector of Social and Political Department at the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Vusal Guliyev, as well as MPs, representatives of more than 200 youth organizations.

The congress featured demonstration of a video on the 20th anniversary of the organization. Chairman of the NAYORA Shahin Seyidzade provided an insight into the history of the Organization and highlighted its priorities.

Minister Rahimov stressed the importance of holding the Congress.

“NAYORA actively partnered the grandiose international events, including the Eurovision Song Contest and Baku 2015 first European Games,” he added.

On behalf of the United Nations, Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Antonius Broek congratulated the members of the Assembly on the 20th anniversary.

Established on November 21, 1995 by eleven youth organizations, the NAYOR follows the mission to increase the role of young people and youth organizations in the formation of civil society.

Today the National Assembly is the leading youth institution in Azerbaijan, that brings together 112 youth organizations.

NAYORA is a member of a range of international organizations such as European Youth Forum, UN Economic and Social Council, World Union of the Turkic Youth, World Assembly of Youth, “Great Silk Way” International Youth Union, etc.

One of the main objectives of the organization is representation at national, regional and international level and holding a decent place in the international community.

The primary duty of the National Assembly is to direct youth knowledge and skills to the strengthening of the state independence of Azerbaijan.
