President Aliyev attends general meeting marking 70th anniversary of ANAS

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has attended a general meeting marking the 70th jubilee of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
The head of state addressed the event that took place on November 9.
The meeting was also addressed by President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizade, Nobel laureate, professor George Fitzgerald Smoot, and director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, academician Viktor Matveyev.
Established in 1945, ANAS is the main scientific institution of the country that plays an important role in the development of the nation.
During 70 years, scientific achievements reached by the Academy, and numerous inventions produced by the highly skilled staff have played a decisive role in the formation of today's scientific base.
ANAS is a member of many prestigious international scientific organizations, its employees conduct researches together with leading scientific organizations of CIS countries, the U.S., Japan, Israel, Switzerland, the UK, Germany, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran and other countries.
