Romania actively supports deepening of NATO-Baku cooperation

The Romanian embassy in Baku hosted a workshop on NATO-Azerbaijan relations on October 8.

The event was organized together with Organization of Integration of Azerbaijani Youth to Europe (AGAT) within the mandate Romanian diplomatic mission is fulfilling as NATO Contact Point Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Addressing the event, Romanian envoy Daniel Cristian Ciobanu underlined that NATO is the most important and successful political-military organization in contemporary history.

New security challenges require a cooperative approach, he added.

NATO and Azerbaijan established a strong partnership, which brings mutual benefits. As NATO Contact Point embassy, Romanian diplomatic mission in Baku pays constant attention to promotion of North Atlantic Alliance values and principles in Azerbaijan.

Romania, which has been the second country in the world to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence, actively supports the strengthening and deepening of cooperation between NATO and Baku.

Romania is ready to share its experience of Euro-Atlantic integration, presenting best practices and providing expertise on the implementation of reforms in the security and defense sectors in accordance to NATO standards. Embassy of Romania in Baku operates as an active channel for disseminating information about the role and policies of NATO.

Later, Jiri Preclik, Political Officer within NATO Liaison Office for South Caucasus, had an in-depth presentation about NATO and its priorities.

Narghiz Khalaf, President of AGAT, touched upon the danger that prolonged conflicts pose to regional security and stability.

During the workshop the participants approached aspects of joint interest regarding NATO-Azerbaijan relationship.
