Election Commission launches training for its members

The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan has launched training for members of lower election commissions in connection with the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for November 1.

The CEC reported on October 7 that the first stage of the trainings will last four days and they will be attended by two representatives from each election constituency.

The training participants will be informed about the voting process, vote counting procedures, filling protocols and other procedures which will be carried out on the voting day.

The second stage of trainings which will be conducted for members of the lower election commissions will start on October 12. Each member of the lower election commission will receive an election handbook, samples of the protocol on the voting results and several other documents.

Over 30,000 members of lower election commissions will participate in the trainings.

Preparations for the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are in full swing. Campaigning will begin on October 9 and will last until 8:00 a.m. October 31, exactly 23 days before voting as required by law.

According to the law of Azerbaijan "On freedom of assembly," some 128 public and 128 private locations have been designated for candidates to meet with voters in 117 electoral districts throughout the country.

Baku Telephone Communications PA and Aztelekom LLC have completed the installation of webcams in more than 1,000 polling stations in the regions of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, while some 294 webcams have been installed in polling stations in the various electoral districts of Baku.

As of October 5, the number of candidates registered by the CEC to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections reached 1,054 people.

Also, 1,823 people appealed to the CEC to register their candidacies, some 572 of which were put forward by political parties, 62 from the “Azadlig-2015” political bloc, three from initiative groups, while 1,186 of them are self-nominated candidates.
