By Sara Rajabova

Command and staff drills of the Azerbaijani Army kicked off in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan on October 5.

Azerbaijan’s defense ministry said the drills are being held with participation of the Detached All-Arms Army.

During the drills the staffs’ ability to manage the battle activities of all types of armed forces will be checked.

The drills are stipulated as a continuation of operational tasks earlier performed during the command and staff drills on September 6-13.

Along with working out the drills tasks, it is planned to control troops in difficult operation conditions, coordinate staffs at various levels, and organize and check the military service.

The drills, which are being held under the plan of training of the armed forces, approved by Azerbaijan’s President, Supreme Commander in Chief Ilham Aliyev, will continue until October 8.

Azerbaijan holds regular military drills to check the training level and fighting capability of the army.

The Azerbaijani leadership empowers the military and has moved to formulate the necessary armament policy by adhering to international requirements.

Azerbaijan's military build-up is in line with the country's legal right to liberate its occupied lands by means of war, should it be necessary.
