Azerbaijani regions experienced heavy rainfall on October 4.

As a result of the rains in the Goranboy region, the water level in the Garachay river rose to four meters.

The rains caused the basements of local houses to flood in the region’s Veyisli and Safikurd villages.

First Deputy of the City’s Executive Power Elchin Jahangirov said that all rescue forces were engaged in the process.

He noted that the water was pumped out from basements by Emergency Situations Ministry staff.

Rains also affected Goychay region, flooding the basements of some 15 houses. In the north of the city, a building where 16 families are living was also flooded.

The showers also damaged farming plots. As a result of the flooding in the Arvanchay river, streets have been smeared in silt. Floods also injured about 40 fowls and chickens. Cars were also seen to have suffered water damage.

Strong winds knocked trees onto power lines in some districts, leaving the residents of 40 villages and some parts of the city without electricity through the night.

Meanwhile, forecasters predict rains in the country on October 6. In the regions, the temperature will stand at 21-14 degrees C above during the day and 12-17 degrees C at night.

In Baku and Absheron peninsula, rain is also expected tomorrow. The temperature will be 21-26 degrees C above zero during the day and 15-18 degrees C at night.
