Azerbaijan has fully maintained its international image as a stable and safe country, thanks to measures taken to combat crime, protect societal rules, and provide social security.

This remark was made by Azerbaijani Interior Minister, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov at the 37th conference of the police chiefs of foreign country capitals on August 28.

The conference, which kicked off on August 28 and will last until August 30, is being attended by 70 representatives of 25 countries. The participants of the event will adopt a joint declaration as well.

In his addressing speech, Usubov noted that comprehensive reforms and modernization have paved the way for preventive measures against crime and the threat of transnational organized crimes.

Thanks to these safety measures, the capital city of Baku has turned into a home to international political, cultural, and sports events, including summits, conferences, humanitarian forums, as well as the world and European championships.

“It is not surprisingly that about two months ago, our country hosted the first European Games. This friendship and partnership event, which brought together more than 6,000 athletes from the continent and was equal to the Summer Olympic Games for its scale, ended in a secure and stabile condition,” Usubov said.

Today, despite crises all over the world, Azerbaijan is developing successfully, and the people's welfare is improved day by day. The protection of the rights, freedoms, and well-being of citizens of the country is ensured based on laws and national values.

Azerbaijani policemen play a key role in the protection of state security and the safety of the citizens.

In the last decade, more than 5,000 policemen have attended events organized by the UN, NATO, the Council of Europe and the OSCE. Currently, many of them are involved in special projects in foreign countries.

Azerbaijan’s external relations with countries of the world and international organizations in the fight against transnational organized crime are developing rapidly. The legal basis for these interactions includes 94 international documents singed with more than 40 countries.
