Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, is celebrating her birthday today.
The years have built the history of human life, and every year is as unique as every person, with its definite challenges, definite requirements, and definite achievements. This year rich with magnificent events will hold special value for Mehriban Aliyeva, whose name is associated with charity, cordial warmth, and mercy.
Mehriban Aliyeva, a beautiful and loving woman, a solicitous and attentive mother, a benevolent person, is one of those who can influence society, change it for the better, and win the hearts and minds of millions of people.
She is the darling woman of the nation, a glimmer of hope for those who are seeking support, and strong proponent of charity work. She always stands near of those who need care and attention and lights a spark of hope in them. She is beloved by children across the country and takes every opportunity to celebrate holidays with them.
Mehriban Aliyeva is proud of being an Azerbaijani woman, and serving her motherland is her primary objective. "...Each of us is a soldier of our country, and we are ready to serve to the fullest extent of our power for the sake of Azerbaijan’s future," she once said.
Due to her diligent efforts in the protection and development of Azerbaijan’s oral folk literature and music heritage, Mehriban Aliyeva has been awarded the title of Goodwill Ambassador to UNESCO.
The First Lady is focused on glorifying her country on the world stage, and thanks to her high intellect, commanding presence, and excellent organizational skills, she is able to generate love and sympathy among peoples.
The inspiring and pride-filled Baku 2015 First European Games is a shining example of serious efforts and intense organization, led by the First Lady personally. The magnificent Games, which will undoubtedly endure in the minds of audiences the world over for some time, achieved a new milestone in the sports history of Europe, demonstrating well Azerbaijan's ability to host such grand events.
“As the curtain falls on this celebration of sport and friendship, I’m overwhelmed by an enormous sense of pride in our country and our people. The past 17 days will live forever in our hearts. It will be an unforgettable moment in our history that passes down through the generations,” Mehriban Aliyeva, Chair of the Baku 2015 European Games Organizing Committee, said in her closing speech.
Her bright personality, excellently blending her wonderful personal features and professional skills in whatever she is engaged in, makes the First Lady popular not only in Azerbaijan, but also throughout the world. She is a true guardian of national culture and history and gives her undivided attention to the preservation of historic and cultural monuments globally.
Through the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijan participates in the restoration of various renowned monuments in France, Italy, and the Vatican. The Foundation is also building schools, kindergartens, and medical centers abroad.
These contributions to culture and education distinguish Mehriban Aliyeva, a person that evokes no less than the harmony of her strongest values.
