Azerbaijan’s armed forces have annihilated another drone of the Armenian armed forces while it attempted to fly over Azerbaijani positions.

“A DJI Inspire1 (Quadcopter) drone of the Armenian armed forces attempted to make flights over the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the direction of the Aghdam region, but it was revealed on time due to the vigilance of the Azerbaijani armed forces,” the Azerbaijani defense ministry reported on July 29.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani military destroyed three Armenian drones - two on the frontline in the Tartar region, one - on the frontline in the direction of the Fizuli region.

Defying all international calls to abide by the ceasefire agreement with Azerbaijan, Armenia still continues to aggravate tension on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops with constant provocations on frontline.

Last January, Azerbaijani armed forces destroyed an Armenian unmanned aerial vehicle while it was flying over Azerbaijani positions in Aghdam region on the frontline.

In late 2014, a military helicopter belonging to Armenian armed forces was downed by the Azerbaijani armed forces while it was attempting to carry out provocative actions on the frontline.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994 but Armenia continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions. Peace talks mediated by Russia, France and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
