Australian – Azerbaijani Parliamentary friendship group established

The Australian – Azerbaijani bilateral relations see tightening as the Federal Parliament of Australia has established an Australia – Azerbaijani group, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Australia reported on July 1.

Chairman of the group is Luke Simpkins, a member of the ruling coalition from the Liberal Party; Alan Griffin, a spokesman for the Labor Party, became Deputy Chairman.

The group includes members of the Australian Labor Party Anthony Albanese, Laurie Ferguson, Michael Danby, Claire Moore, Warren Snowdon, Maria Vamvakinu, a member of the National Party, which is part of the ruling coalition, John Cobb and others.

The Australian delegation recently visited Azerbaijan and held a number of meetings at the Azerbaijani parliament, Foreign Ministry, the Azerbaijani Language University and ADA University. Prospects for the future bilateral relations were discussed during these meetings.

Activities of the Australia - Azerbaijani parliamentary group is expected to contribute in joint work to expand cooperation between the two countries in political, economic and cultural spheres.
