Azerbaijani youth have protested against anti-Azerbaijan campaign and European Union’s double standards towards the country.

Members of Azerbaijani youth organizations held a protest action in front of the building of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan on June 11.

The protestors said the EU has taken a biased position towards Azerbaijan and pursues the policy of double standards.

The participants noted that over a million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs as a result of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan. However, the EU remains indifference to this fact.

“The EU and the European Parliament prefer not to talk about that, but to be engaged in protecting the rights of two or three prisoners,” the protestors said.

Armenia and Azerbaijan fought a lengthy war that ended with the signing of a fragile ceasefire in 1994. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.

The protestors further said the European Parliament politicizes the European Games and uses them as a tool of pressure against Azerbaijan.

The protest action was held under such slogans as “Leave Azerbaijan alone”, “Maybe sanctions against aggressor Armenia?” and others.

A resolution was adopted following the protest action.

In this resolution, the representatives of Azerbaijani youth organizations protested the illogical activities of Martin Schulz, the European Parliament President.

They also demanded to put an end to the biased activities against Azerbaijan.

Moreover, the protestors demand the EU, heads of its member countries which have imposed tough sanctions against Russia to take appropriate measures against occupier Armenia.

They expressed hope that the members of the European Parliament, the European Commission and EU Council will take into account their demands.

Another group of young people held a rally in front of the British embassy in Azerbaijan.

A resolution, submitted to the embassy, was read out at the end of the rally. The resolution expressed the requirement to abandon the policy of double standards towards Azerbaijan.
