Azerbaijani-Swedish ties in focus
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Sweden Adish Mammadov has met Karin Enström, Member of the Swedish Parliament, and Former Minister for Defense, AzerTac state news agency reported.
The sides discussed different aspects of relations between the two countries.
Mammadov spoke about current state of Azerbaijani-EU, Azerbaijani-Swedish relations, saying the country was interested in boosting these ties.
The diplomat highlighted Eastern Partnership program of EU, as well as Azerbaijan`s position in this project.
The diplomat also provided an insight into the cause and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He reminded the four resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council on unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian Armed troops from Azerbaijan`s occupied lands, saying, Armenia refuses to honor the implementation of these documents.
Enström, in turn, said the conflict negatively influenced to development of the region, stressed the importance of paying attention by the European states.
She said Sweden, especially the Committee she represented actively worked to solve the conflict.
Following the meeting, the ambassador invited Karin Enström and the Committee she represented to visit Azerbaijan.
