Baku Forum discusses security opportunities

Security opportunities of local, national and regional integration have been discussed during a panel session within the 3rd Global Baku Forum.

Moderated by Amr Moosa, the former Secretary General of Arab League, the session heard speech by Luis Alberto Lakalle, former Uruguayan president, who said regional integration “was a tool for the cooperation” in economic, cultural and political level, AzerTag news agency reported.

Yukio Hatoyama,Japan’s former prime minister spoke about “regional integration” and strengthening the security in this issue. He stressed the importance of rejection of war in releasing the threat of war, saying the constructive dialogue was essential in ensuring the peace.

Iveta Radicova,the former prime minister of Slovakia stressed the significance of 3rd Global Baku Forum in terms of discussing several issues concerning the world. She also added the alliances would be created for preventing of threat of war.

Furthermore, Arnold Ruutel, former Estonian president highlighted the Eastern Partnership Program. Touching upon the role of regional and international organizations in establishing the international trust, Ruutel said “such alliances could pave peace and security in the world”.

The forum has attended by presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, former heads of several countries, and representatives from 72 countries.

The event discussed topics and issues related to the fight against terrorism, ethnic and religious conflict resolution, democracy development, education reform, and environment preservation.

The forum provided a space for current and ex-presidents, prime ministers, ministers and leading scholars and experts to assess the current state of the world and the most pressing threats to international security and peace, and to elaborate concrete steps for today's leadership to overcome these divisions.
