Armenians breach ceasefire with Azerbaijan 74 times during the day

The situation on the contact line between Azerbaijan and Armenia has remained tense as the Armenian Armed Forces shattered ceasefire a total of 74 times throughout the day, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on April 28.

Armenian armed forces, located in Armenia’s Paravakar village of Ijevan region and nameless hills of Krasnoselsk region, subjected to fire the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in Kohnagishlag village of Agstafa and nameless hills of Gadabay region.

The ceasefire was violated in Talish, Tap Garagoyunlu and Gulustan villages of Goranboy region, Chilaburt, Goyarkh villages of Tartar region, Kangarli, Garagashli, Shikhlar, Sarijali, Novruzlu, Yusifjanli and Marzali villages of Agdam region, Kuropatkino village of Khojavand region, Horadiz, Garakhanbayli villages of Fuzuli region, Mehdili village of Jabrayil region, as well as nameless hills of Goranboy, Khojavand and Fuzuli regions.

The enemy was silenced with a retaliatory fire.

Back in 1992, following a violent and bloody conflict, Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts plunging the South Caucasus region into a protracted conflict.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has yet to comply with UN Security Council resolutions calling for the liberation of all occupied territories.

Drawn into a conflict it did not initiate, Azerbaijan has warned it would not stand idly while its people's lives are put in harm's way by Armenian soldiers.
