The Anglo-Azerbaijani Society and Ralph Lauren have co-organized a charity event for disabled children in London.

Co-chairman of the Society Lord German hailed Anglo-Azerbaijani Society’s contributions to fraternal relations between the two countries.

The Anglo-Azerbaijani Society is a principal organization aimed at promoting the cultural, charitable and other links between Azerbaijan and the UK.

A representative of Azerbaijani co-chair of the Society, professor Nargiz Pashayeva, made a speech on behalf of the professor, and praised Lord German’s activities in the organization.

The representative noted that Azerbaijan has always been an open country for world. “The Anglo-Azerbaijani Society made efforts towards further developing existing relations between the UK and Azerbaijan.”

The attendees, then, heard performance of Azerbaijani violinist Nazrin Rashidova.

Following, a fashion show from Ralph Lauren was presented, where guests were able to purchase designer's pieces at a 10-percent discount.

Fifteen percent of the income from the sale will be transferred to the House of children with disabilities.

The House for disabled children is a boarding school for children with physical and mental disabilities. Here, children with disabilities are surrounded by special care and attention.

The funds received from the charity event will be used to provide children with adequate nutrition, clothing, appropriate medical and rehabilitation services. In addition, renovation of some rooms is planned.

The facility with 200 seats is currently a house for 138 children with physical and mental disabilities.

The Anglo-Azerbaijani Society, established in 1997, supports Azerbaijani-British relations in all spheres and assists charitable endeavors in Azerbaijan, as well as keeps members closely informed on developments in Azerbaijan and increases public awareness about Azerbaijan in the UK.

The membership comprises major British companies in the oil, banking, insurance, engineering, services, communications, law and other sectors.

Azerbaijan and the UK have benefited from close bilateral partnership and cooperation since 1992 in the framework of international organizations such as the United Nations, OSCE, Council of Europe, and NATO.
