Azerbaijan, UNICEF eye deepening of cooperation
Azerbaijan and UNICEF have explored ways of developing the
cooperation between the country and the organization as country’s
Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov has met Marie-Pierre Poirier,
UNICEF Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and the
CIS.
Ms. Poirier hailed cooperation between UNICEF and the government of
Azerbaijan as long-term and fruitful.
She also praised development processes in Azerbaijan, saying the
international community lauds what the Azerbaijani government is
doing to protecting children`s rights.
Ahmadov, in turn, hailed UNICEF`s activity in the country, particularly its efforts to assist the government in improving healthcare system and implementing health reforms.
Ahmadov also highlighted joint cooperation on protection of children`s health.
The cooperation was also mulled at the meeting of Deputy Prime
Minister Elchin Efendiyev and Ms. Poirier.
The sides touched upon a range of issues including, fruitful
working cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UNICEF, as well as
the programs implemented in the fields of education, health and
rights of the children.
Ms. Poirier said Azerbaijan has gained notable achievements in the
field of protection of children’s rights as well. To this end, she
said, UNICEF has prepared another 5-year program to be presented to
the Azerbaijani government shortly.
Efendiyev thanked UNICEF Regional Director for cooperation,
expressed further successes in the Organization’s regional
activity.

practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most
vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children,
