Azerbaijan refutes Armenia's disinformation

Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry refuted one more disinformation disseminated by the Armenian counterparts following the recent armed skirmish on the line of contact.

Following the next sabotage attempt of an Armenian reconnaissance group along the frontline, the Armenian defense ministry spread news on the alleged deaths of seven Azerbaijani servicemen.

The Azerbaijani ministry reports that Azerbaijan armed force suffered no losses of manpower or military equipment. The situation remains under control, according to the report.

Being loyal to its traditional falsification, Armenian media reported on March 6 that the so-called armed forces in Azerbaijan's occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region destroyed the ZIK -23-2 weapon and killed seven Azerbaijani soldiers.

Keen to settle the matter and clearly state the truth, the Azerbaijani defense ministry published a report in which it explained how troops successfully prevented Armenian armed militants from infiltrating Azerbaijan territories on the contact line on the night of March 6. The mission which was successful to repel Armenia's assault saw an Azerbaijani sergeant being lightly injured.

Meanwhile, while spreading such disinformation, Armenia confessed the diversion attempts by its troops last night in Agdere-Terter direction on the line of contact, as well as its manpower losses, said the ministry.

Regular ceasefire violations triggered by the Armenian forces have generated much instability, complicating any hope for a fast and peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Resorting to armed incursions rather than intensifying efforts towards reaching a peaceful resolution to the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh proves Armenia's reluctance to promoting stability in the region.

Azerbaijan's internationally recognized Nagorno-Karabakh territory has become a conflict zone following Armenia's aggression in the early 1990s. As a result of Armenia's armed invasion, 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory fell under Armenia's occupation. Nonetheless, the OSCE has attempted to foster a peaceful resolution to this conflict amid Armenia's persistent derailment on peace talks.
