Mehriban Aliyeva congratulates Alibaba Mammadov on 85th anniversary

Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, has
met People’s Artist Alibaba Mammadov on the occasion of his 85th
anniversary.
The first lady has recently initiated the launch of a new album
highlighting Alibaba Mammadov’s life and activity.
Aliyeva said Mammadov is a person who knows “the subtleties of folk
music and Azerbaijani classical poetry”.
She said the album features a book about the prominent singer, his life and creative activity, musical notations of his songs and Tasnifs, and four CDs of folk songs, Tasnifs and Mughams he performed.
The book talks about the virtuosic khanendeh’s childhood and youth years and the years of creativity during unforgettable events. Published with high polygraphic quality, the album is rich in various photos reflecting the life of Mammadov.
Alibaba Mammadov played a tremendous role in preserving and
developing the traditions of Azerbaijani national Mugham school,
she said.
Mammadov thanked the first lady for the attention and care.
He praised Mehriban Aliyeva’s role in preserving, developing and
promoting Azerbaijani Mugham.
Alibaba Mammadov began his artistic career in the Philharmonic in
1949. His natural talent and clear voice have conquered the hearts
of audiences. The talented singer has devoted more than 60 years of
his life to developing and promoting the Azerbaijani Mugham.
