India’s Republic day marked in Baku

The Indian embassy in Azerbaijan hosted an official reception on the country`s Republic Day on January 26.
The event began with the performance of the national anthems of the two countries. Later, Ambassador Vinod Kumar briefed the event participants on the country`s achievements in various spheres, and touched upon the historical relations between the two countries, AzereTag state news agency reported.
Kumar noted that India was one of the first countries to
establish diplomatic ties with Azerbaijan after this country
restored its independence.
He expressed hope that the Azerbaijan-India ties would continue to
develop.
Huseyngulu Baghirov, Ecology and Natural Resources Minister
congratulated the Indian people on the occasion of the holiday on
behalf of Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev.
He said relations between Azerbaijan and India were steadily
developing for the prosperity of the two countries` people.
The minister hailed the activity of the Azerbaijan-India
Intergovernmental Commission.
Baghirov also noted that Azerbaijan attached great importance to
developing relations with India.
The event brought together Azerbaijan`s state and government
officials, MPs, ambassadors of foreign countries, as well as public
figures.
