Leyla Aliyeva and Russian guests visit Ganja

Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and Russian guests , participating in the bicentennial anniversary of the outstanding Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov held in Baku, visited the country’s second largest city of Ganja.

The founder and head of International Dialogue for Environmental Action Campaign, Aliyeva and guests visited the Heydar Aliyev Park Complex, ascended the Triumphal Arch measuring 41 meters to view the entire park.

Then, they visited the Heydar Aliyev Center. The visitors examined the amphitheater with a seating capacity of 3,000 spectators built in the Park Complex.

Aliyeva and the guests viewed the models of the Maiden Tower which were shown at the international “Maiden Tower” festival annually held in Baku with assistance of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Participating in tree planting campaign, Aliyeva symbolically called it “Lermontov's Tree”. The guests from Russia also took part in the campaign.

As part of acquaintance with the Heydar Aliyev Center, Aliyeva also took part in the opening of the Ganja City Resource Center of the IDEA Public Union here.

Then, Aliyeva and the guests visited the Mausoleum of prominent Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi. It was reported that in due time the Mausoleum was repaired in accordance with the order of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

In 2011, on the eve of preparation for 870th anniversary of the great thinker and poet, according to the relevant order of President Ilham Aliyev, the territory of the Mausoleum was even more expanded and reconstructed.

Following, Aliyeva and the guests who visited the Mausoleum were given detailed information about the poet, the outstanding persons participating in his jubilee ceremony.
