Azerbaijan has formed a national army and one can be proud of it, said Ali Hasanov, the Head of the Public and Political Issues Department of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration.

Hasanov made this statement at the event entitled "Youth organizations: new opportunities and current challenges" held on December 22 in connection with the three-year activity of the Youth Fund under the president of Azerbaijan.

“If despite the objections of the international community and the ongoing peace talks, the Azerbaijani army moves to liberate the occupied territories, then, no doubt, it can release all Azerbaijani lands for a week - ten days,” Hasanov said.

Hasanov said that 23 years have passed since Azerbaijan gained independence.

"We have built Azerbaijan for 23 years under the leadership and thanks to the efforts of the national leader Heydar Aliyev,” Hasanov said. “Today Azerbaijan represents us in the world and the international arena with dignity. Azerbaijan and its essence is our property, of which we can be proud today. Azerbaijan has been represented in the UN Security Council, which is the most influential organization in the world."

"The country chaired the Council of Europe," he said. "Azerbaijan led various international organizations. Azerbaijan has taken its place among the world countries because of its economy, oil strategy and ability to be represented on the world’s energy map. Azerbaijan's economy is one of the leading economies in the world."

Hasanov said that Azerbaijan’s social policy can be cited as an example in the world.

"As a result, tolerance was created in Azerbaijan,” he said. “The traditions of multiculturalism were formed. The norms of joint civilized habitation of peoples, nations and ethnic groups were restored. The social groups of the population established the norms of civilized habitation with the full mutual understanding in Azerbaijan. In Azerbaijan, a worker, an intellectual and a middle class have own benefit from such a state policy. The current social stability is the result of practicality of this social policy."

“If a youth representative understands what to do, and while realizing this, demonstrates the determination and will-power to preserve the values, and in particular, if will-power and determination are in practice, the youth of Azerbaijan, as the competitive youth, will continue the youth policy, laid by the national leader,” he said.

“You are familiar with the youth policy in practice,” Hasanov said. “Today the youth comprises three million people of Azerbaijan.”

He went on to add that approximately 65 percent of the population is the young people aged up to 35.

“What would have we relied on today, if the state hasn’t laid a healthy foundation for these 65 percent, if it hasn’t found and directed the necessary economic, political, spiritual and other resources to their development, and most importantly, if it hasn’t purposefully formed and realized this policy?,” Hasanov said.

“How could we be confident in our future? The confidence of the state and people in their future is associated with youth, which represents them,” he added. “If the youth is formed as a healthy one, if a sound foundation of this policy has been laid, and most importantly, if the state conducts a well thought-out policy, it means it has a future.”

He said President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly stated that the policy pursued by each state should be based on national interests and the government should rely on its own people.

Hasanov noted that if the people don’t support this policy, then no program will bring positive results.

“Azerbaijan’s success lies in its policy based on the interests of the people and the people support it,” he added.

Hasanov underscored that over three years of its activity the Youth Foundation under the President of Azerbaijan realized quite fruitful work and achieved practical results.

“It is known that any activity is measured by its practical results,” he added.

Hasanov said that if the final result of the activity has no social significance, and doesn’t serve the public, political and social interests of the nation, then, it is formal and will remain on paper.

“If it gives a concrete social outcome, then, this activity must be approved,” he added.

“I believe that the sample projects presented today, the common report of the foundation’s management, the assessment of 1,865 projects in three years and allocation of funds for them, the expanding range of projects and coverage of all layers of the youth, of course, indicate the efficiency of the work, and its social value,” Hasanov said.

He noted that the main body implementing the youth policy in Azerbaijan is the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“The Youth Foundation is one of the supporting bodies,” Hasanov said. “No one can say that there is something unpleasant in the activities of the Youth Foundation. Such a transparent activity was established in all the bodies under the president – the Science Development Foundation and the State Fund for the Support of Mass Media Development. Three years is not a long period, but the activities of the Youth Foundation can be considered successful.”
