President Aliyev reviews project of Shooting Complex construction

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse, chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the European Games, Mehriban Aliyeva reviewed the progress of a construction project at the Trap Shooting Complex in Bilajari, Baku.

The head of state andfirst lady were informed about the features of the complex, which is designed to host shooting sports and skeet shooting tournaments. It has been expanded to 19.6 hectares.

The construction of the building and facilities meets standards of the International Shooting Federation continues here.

The presidential couple reviewed a sketch shooting area of the complex. It was noted that all conditions will be created for holding circular and trench shooting tournaments and trainings.

There will be five shooting ranges with one of them designed to host Olympic competitions and World Cup finals. Chairs and a 500-seat stand will also be installed in each shooting range.

Special attention is also paid to the creation of social facilities here. A four-storey hotel is being built. It will have 20 two-bed, and two VIP rooms. There will be a conference hall, meeting and medical rooms, a room for coaches, a restaurant and a 500-car parking lot.

President Aliyev and the first lady reviewed a shooting sports area. It was noted that 10m, 25m, 50m and 300m shooting sports competitions will be held here. There will be an 80-man 10m indoor shooting range. The facility will handle up to 483 spectators. A 50-man 25m partly indoor shooting range will handle up to 390 spectators.

There will also be an 80-man 50m and a 300m partly indoor shooting ranges with the latter handling up to 414 spectators. The 15-man 10m, 25m and 50m indoor shooting ranges are designed to host Olympic competitions and world cup finals. These facilities will handle up to 500 spectators.

All shooting ranges have rooms for sportsmen, coaches and doctors. In addition, there will be a cafe, a restaurant, waiting and recreation rooms, conference halls, observation balconies, a press center, technical rooms, medical and doping control rooms.

The Skeet Shooting Complex will be one of the largest shooting complexes in Europe.

The head of state also gave his instructions and recommendations.

At Baku 2015 European Games, to be held on June 12-28, the Shooting competition will host 330 athletes with 19 Gold medals available.

The competition will include nine men's events, six women's events and four mixed team events, with the Shooting action beginning on June 16 and finishing on June 22, 2015.

In addition to winning a gold medal, the winner in each of the 15 individual Shooting events will automatically receive a quota place for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
