Int’l Forum of the No Hate Speech Movement due in Gabala

The International Forum of the No Hate Speech Movement will be hosted in Gabala on October 1-4 2 by the Azerbaijani government, particularly Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Youth and Sport.

The event is being organized in the framework of Azerbaijan's chairmanship at the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, by the National Assembly of Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan (NAYORA) and the Council of Europe Youth Department.

About 250 participants from 47 Council of Europe members-states and other countries will be involved in the Forum activities.

The opening ceremony will be held in the Gabala Heydar Aliyev Conference Hall on October 2. Official representatives from the Azerbaijan Government and the Council of Europe are expected to attend the event.

The Forum aims to bring together young people and other activists involved in the No Hate Speech Movement at national and European level, to share experiences, achievements and expectations, and to contribute to the follow-up and consolidation of the Movement and its achievements at national and European level. International and local participants will discuss hate speech and discrimination issues and how to combat them, legal and educational tools and, links between youth policies and human rights education on-line.

The Forum will conclude with a joint message from the participants to the countries' governments.

The "No Hate Speech Movement" is a Council of Europe youth campaign designed to promote human rights online, reduce levels of acceptance of hate speech and foster online youth participation and citizenship, including in Internet governance processes. The campaign is run by the Council of Europe, but is based on national campaigns run in the member states of the Council of Europe. The National Assembly of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the national coordinator of the No Hate Speech Movement in Azerbaijan and launched its campaign in May 2013. NAYORA has implemented several activities such as: "Youth Week" dedicated to International Youth Day, the "No Hate Speech" Photo Competition and Exhibition and the regional project "From East to West No Hate Speech" within the campaign.
