Greece's capital Athens has hosted Days of Azerbaijani Culture.

During the event, Azerbaijan's First Lady and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva held several meetings and a joint dinner with Head of the Greek delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Dora Bakoyannis, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO Marianna Vardinoyannis and President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Spyros Kapralos.

Meanwhile, a charitable concert was co-organized at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijan's Embassy to Greece and Marianna V. Vardinoyiannis Foundation.

Mehriban Aliyeva and Marianna Vardinoyannis attended the concert along with Greek public, political and cultural figures, Athens residents and tourists.

The host of the concert highlighted the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Mehriban Aliyeva, saying the foundation has gained international acclaim thanks to its projects that cover many areas, particularly culture.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Greece Rahman Mustafayev praised the relations between the two countries. He said culture was a highlight of Azerbaijani-Greek cooperation. The Ambassador hailed the event as "a good opportunity" to further promote Azerbaijan in Greece, thanking Aliyeva for support.

The concert featured performance of the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble and Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli conducted by Fakhraddin Karimov.

The audience enjoyed a unique performance that combined the long dancing tradition of Azerbaijan with the timber of the State Symphonic Orchestra creating a balance between classic and contemporary, traditional and cosmopolitan sounds.

Earlier this year, Azerbaijan's State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev gave a concert in Athens Concert Hall performing folk, contemporary and classic music.

Previous cultural events held by the foundation abroad include exhibitions in London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Strasbourg, and Rome.
