Azerbaijan joins PACE conference on combating violence against women
An international conference on preventing and combating violence against women organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and Italy's Foreign Ministry was held here.
The event organized in connection with the coming into force of the Council of Europe Convention (Istanbul Convention) on August 1 current year on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence brought together representatives from over 100 world countries, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Azerbaijani delegation comprised MP Sahiba Gafarova, representative of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Elgun Safarov, contributor of Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy Nasir Mammadov and representative of Foreign Ministry Vusala Sadigova.
Safarov spoke of measures taken by Azerbaijani state and government to provide prevention and combating violence against women and domestic violence in the country.
The conferees have adopted a Declaration signed by ministers of the representing countries
