Armenian troops continue violating ceasefire with Azerbaijan

Subunits of the Armenian armed forces shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan in Yusifjanli, Garagashli and Merzili villages of Aghdam region and nameless hills of Kuropatkino village of Khojavend region on September 18 and on the night of September 19.

The enemy was silenced with a retail fire, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
