Air temperature has sharply decreased in the territory of Azerbaijan starting from early hours of September 17.

Strong north-western wind and heavy rains were observed in country's northern and western regions in the night hours, reaching 18-33 millimeters in amount.

Weather forecasters warned the instability will continue in the next three days.

"Sleet and snow are expected in the highland zones of the Major Caucasus at night and the temperature will drop by about 10 degrees compared to the previous days," head of the Hydrometeorological Forecast Bureau of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry said.

Umayra Tagiyeva added that snowfall in the highlands in the autumn is not abnormal. "No snowfall is predicted in the lowlands," she stressed.

Unstable weather condition will continue in the nearest days, with possibility of some rains.

Wind will gradually relent in the evening hours of September 18, but it will be cloudy in Baku and regions.

Intensive rains are expected in the regions of Azerbaijan.

Intermittent rainfall is forecasted in Baku and Absheron peninsula with air temperature of 20-24 above zero in the next two days.
