British MP praises Azerbaijan’s growing importance

Azerbaijan's growing importance in world affairs was highlighted during a meeting between Azerbaijani president and former Secretary of State for Defense of the United Kingdom.
President Ilham Aliyev received former Secretary of State for Defense of the United Kingdom and a Member of the Parliament Liam Fox on September 15, AzerTag news agency reported.
During the meeting, Fox said the importance of Azerbaijan, a country with favorable geographical and geopolitical location, was growing in world affairs. He also presented his book to the head of state.
Referring to the successful political and economic developments of Azerbaijan, President Aliyev underlined with satisfaction the strengthening of Azerbaijan`s stance even further.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the development of relations, international and regional issues.
Also, on the same day, Fox's book entitled "Rising Tides: Facing the Challenges of a New Era" was unveiled in Baku. The book was translated into Azerbaijani language and released by the "TEAS Press" publishing house.
The politicians and public figures, MPs, as well as the author himself attended the presentation event.
Chairman of the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS), editor of the book and the project manager of translation of the book into the Azerbaijani language, Taleh Heydarov said the author of the book has interesting views on the global events in the world.
Heydarov said during the formulation and explanation of global problems, the author prefers alternative and denoting judgments. "Dr. Liam Fox has written a very informative introduction: "Azerbaijan is a global example for its past and today." I think it will be possible to write a weighty work about Azerbaijan on the basis of his ideas. There is a deep political analysis, and the results demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the author on the subject."
He noted that the translation into Azerbaijani language and publication of the book will contribute to further strengthening of relations between Azerbaijan and the European countries and promoting Azerbaijan in the world.
Karim Shukurov, one of the editors of the book, reminded that TEAS has repeatedly implemented important projects in Azerbaijan.
Liam Fox expressed his appreciation for the leadership of TEAS on translation and publication of the book. The author noted that the book also deals with the financial crises, conflicts, international terrorism, etc. "I think that in this context, solutions to Azerbaijan's problems should be found not only through diplomatic correspondence, but also in the framework of international law," he said.
