Kyrgyzstan to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan

The Kyrgyz delegation led by Tayirbek Sarpashev, First Deputy Prime Minister, visited Azerbaijan's capital Baku to attend a regular meeting of the Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation on September 10.

First, the delegation from the Central Asian country was received by President Ilham Aliyev . The sides hailed the political relations between the two countries and stressed the importance of the development of cooperation in the economic, trade, humanitarian and other fields.

Later, the Kyrgyz delegation attended a regular meeting of the Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, Azerbaijan's First Deputy Prime Minister, Co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission, Yagub Eyyubov praised the fraternal relations between the peoples of the two countries.

"The commission will play a key role in the development of these ties", he stressed.

Sarpashev, for his part, said his country is interested in strengthening cooperation with Azerbaijan in agriculture, trade-economic, scientific-technical, transport, communications, tourism and cultural fields.

He noted the Kyrgyz government intends to further strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijani companies and is ready to create all necessary conditions for attracting investments in the processing industry, as well as the introduction of advanced technologies in the production of agricultural products.

As part of the Baku visit, the Kyrgyz delegation held several fruitful meetings to discuss cooperation in economic field and prevention of emergency situations.

At the meeting with Azersun Holding President Abdulbari Goozal, Sarpashev voiced that Kyrgyzstan is interested in strengthening cooperation with Azerbaijan in the agricultural sector.

"We need to use the available opportunities for effective implementation of joint projects in agriculture, production of honey and organic vegetables and fruits", Sarpashev said.

Goozal, for his part, said Azersun Holding is interested in expanding cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, particularly in agricultural field.

"We are ready to continue to cooperate and establish close ties in all areas of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan. Your country has great capacity for the development of the agricultural sector," he said.

Later, the Kyrgyz delegation was received by Emergency Situations Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov and the sides stressed the existence of close cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including in prevention and elimination of consequences of emergency situations.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan was established on January 19, 1993.

Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan are working together to strengthen their partnership in industry, trade, communications, and transportation fields. The two countries also intend to develop cooperation between their justice authorities.

Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on a new air service which envisaged regular passenger and cargo flights between the two countries.
