President Erdogan's first visit to Azerbaijan shows importance

The Azerbaijani and Turkish presidents usually pay their first foreign visits to the fraternal countries and this has already become a tradition in these countries.

Azerbaijani MP Aydin Mirzazade made the remark while commenting on the expected visit of Turkish newly elected President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Azerbaijan, Trend Agency reported on September 1.

"This shows the great importance that Turkey attaches to its relations with Azerbaijan. It also highlights the desire of the Turkish side to be always with Azerbaijan in all issues and continue to develop fraternal and friendly relations with Baku," he said.

Mirzazade further said Erdogan can be characterized as a politician who highly appreciates the relations with Azerbaijan, seeking to strengthen Turkic world.

"Azerbaijan is looking forward to Erdogan's visit," he said. "He arrives in Azerbaijan not only as the president, but also as a friendly president of a friendly country. Today Turkey's joy is the joy of Azerbaijan. The problems faced by Turkey are Azerbaijan's problems. Only a joint activity of the two friendly countries can resolve these problems and strengthen the friendship."

Mirzazade noted that Erdogan's visit is also expected with great interest abroad.

"As Turkey is one of the major figures in the world politics and in many issues, its position is significant. After Erdogan's election, the Azerbaijani-Turkish friendship will be more strengthened."

Erdogan will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on September 2. This is his first official visit as the president of Turkey.
