Iran's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen dismissed the information that the Israeli-made unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) shot down over Iran, was launched from Azerbaijan's territory.

Pak Ayeen told Trend Agency that in order to assert something, one needs to await the outcome of investigation.

He said the reports about that the UAV, shot down over Iran, was launched from the territory of Azerbaijan, was disseminated by the Israeli media.

The diplomat said such information is disseminated purposefully and aims to worsen Iran's relations with neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan.

Pak Ayeen said Azerbaijan also officially dismissed the report, stressing that it is aimed at worsening relations between the two countries.

"Azerbaijan's Constitution reads that no country in the world has the right to place its military bases in the country," he said noting that Iranian officials did not state that the UAV was launched from the territory of Azerbaijan.

Iran shot down over an Israeli-made Hermes 450 UAV on August 24. Iranian Air Defense Forces' representatives said the drone was shot down over a uranium enrichment facility in the city of Natanz.

Israeli media said the drone that was shot down over Iran, may be in service with the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan.

Some foreign media also spread unverified information that the UAV was launched from the territory of Azerbaijan.
