Defense ministers visit military unit in Nakhchivan

Azerbaijani, Turkish and Georgian defense ministers visited military unit of Azerbaijani Army on August 19 as part of their visit to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR).

Zakir Hasanov, Ismet Yilmaz and Irakli Alasania visited one of the military units of the combined-arms army in Nakhchivan and observed the conditions created for the personnel, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

Defense ministers also visited the Nakhchivan fortress, Prophet Noah grave, salt caves, the Mausoleum of Momine Khatun, Khans' Palace and the Museum of the Carpet.

During the Nakhchivan visit, the ministers of three countries held the trilateral meeting and discussed the military-political situation in the region.

They reached an agreement to hold joint military exercises in the future and to hold similar meetings in this format twice a year.

The Azerbaijani minister also held bilateral meetings with his Georgian and Turkish counterparts.

Turkish and Georgian defense ministers' two-day visit to Nakhchivan wrapped up on August 19.
