Armenian armed forces violate ceasefire with Azerbaijan 59 times

The ceasefire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line was broken 59 times by the Armenian armed forces during the last 24 hours, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on August 11, AzerTag state news agency reported.

Armenian armed forces, located at the nameless heights and in the villages of Aygepar and Mosesgerh of Armenia's Berd region, fired at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces, located in the villages of Munjuglu, Alibeyli and Aghdam of Tovuz region.

At the same time, Azerbaijani positions, located in the villages of Ashagi Eskipara, Gushchuayrim and Gizilhajili of Gazakh region, took fire from the positions located in the villages of Voskevan of Armenia's Noyemberyan region and Berkaber of Armenia's Ijevan region.

Over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, has been occupied by Armenian armed forces since a lengthy war between the two South Caucasus countries in the early 1990s. The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions calling for an Armenian pullout, but they have not been enforced to date.

Peace talks mediated by Russia, France and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
