WIPO highly ranks Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan holds leading place in the recent report of the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The World Intellectual Property Organization released a report "The Global Innovation Index 2014: The Human Factor in Innovation" on July 18.

The report held comparative analysis of 81 variables carried out among 143 countries.

Global Innovation Index includes the following criteria: institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, business sophistication, knowledge and technology outputs, and creative outputs, the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva reported on July 22.

Azerbaijan ranks 13th on the easiness of doing business, 26th place on the market sophistication, 10th on investments, 21st on the ease of protecting investors, 9th place on entering the non-agricultural market, 23rd place on information communication technologies and the creation of an organizational model.

The report aimed to regulate the innovative capacity and the outcome of the world economies.

Switzerland, the U.K. and Sweden topped this year's Global Innovation Index, while Sub-Saharan Africa posted significant regional improvement in the annual rankings published by Cornell University, INSEAD and the WIPO.
