Bern will host the sixth meeting of the Azerbaijani-Swiss intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation on May 26.

The news was announced by Azerbaijani Economy and Industry Ministry on May 21.

A delegation led by co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission from the Azerbaijani side, Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev will attend the meeting.

The sides are expected to discuss the current state of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Switzerland, the work conducted after the fifth meeting of the intergovernmental commission and prospects of expanding the cooperation between the two countries.

The Azerbaijani-Swiss business forum with participation of business circles of both countries will be organized as well.

Switzerland is one of the largest investors in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan's fast-growing economy. More than 70 companies with Swiss capital are registered in the country.

Azerbaijani companies are also interested in the Swiss economy. Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR has already invested 380 million Swiss francs ($322.3 million), and the company's representative office is operating in Switzerland.

The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $47.82 million in January-April 2014.
