Iran to hand over prisoners to Azerbaijan
Iran will hand over five inmates to Azerbaijan, the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan reported.
Iran has expressed readiness to hand over five Azerbaijani
prisoners detained in Iranian prisons, and is waiting for the
submission of relevant documents in this regard.
The inmates are Zamin Huseynov, Nezaket Aliyeva, Sabuhi Sultanov,
Firdus Yusifov, Taleh Sultanov, a diplomatic source told Trend on
April 22.
The charges and the terms of imprisonment of these people were
not reported.
It is expected that Azerbaijan will hand over another 100 prisoners
to Iran in the near future, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Iran,
Javanshir Akhundov told journalists earlier, the website of the
Iranian channel Press TV reoprted.
The Iranian prisoners sentenced to deifferent terms of imprisonment
in Azerbaijan, will be handed over to Iran for serving the
remainder of the punishment at homeland, he said.
Earlier Azerbaijan gave 25 prisoners to Iran. Iran, in turn, handed over to Azerbaijan two Azerbaijani prisoners accused of spying.
