"Eco house" starts second phase

By Nigar Orujova

The first phase of the "Eco House" project, initiated by the Public Association IDEA, came to an end in Azerbaijan.

The IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) campaign started the creative project of ecologically friendly houses in February.

The number of designs presented in the first phase of the project reached 20.

The project aims not only to construct eco-friendly houses and interiors, but also use them in the future.

The contest engages young professionals in the field of design and architecture at the age of 18 to 30.

The designers were supposed to take all the factors into account and combine shapelessness and optimum performance of major bio-energy systems in their concept.

Ecology and creativity are the inalienable and main criteria of the project which should be usable in real life.

Winners of the first stage of the competition will be determined by online voting at idea.day.az. Following the voting, which began on April 15 and will last until May 10, the authors of ten works with the most votes will become the finalists of the project. In the finale stage, a professional jury will select three winning projects.

The best three designers will be rewarded with money. In addition to that, the first and second place winners will be able to undertake trainings in Pasha Construction, one of the project initiators.

The IDEA has been promoting innovative approaches to solving environmental problems since its inception on July 12, 2011, by Vice President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.

The campaign is implementing large-scale local and international projects to protect the environment and promote innovative approaches to solving environmental problems.

The IDEA is based on the principles of dialogue, action, leadership, and education - all the essential components for equipping a generation with the means of fostering positive and sustainable environmental change.

It is mainly focusing on the power of youth, considering it an important tool in changing the way we behave and consume our surrounding natural world.
