Military co-op  in focus of Azerbaijani- South Korean talks

The expansion of military ties and cooperation in the defense industry was a key topic of meeting of the Azerbaijani and South Korean defense ministers.

South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin and his Azerbaijani counterpart Zakir Hasanov met in Seoul, the Korean media reported on December 3.

The two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding defense cooperation between the two nations.

Hasanov's visit to South Korea started on December 2.

During his three-day trip, Hasanov will also meet with South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman and the chief of the Defense Acquisition Administration Program to boost further cooperation in defense sectors.

South Korea established formal diplomatic ties with Azerbaijan in 1992.

South Korea and Azerbaijan have closely cooperated in the political, economic, cultural and other fields for over 20 years since the establishment of their diplomatic relations.

The two countries have signed 40 documents in different spheres so far, and relevant framework has been created to develop friendly relations between the two governments.
